Smells and Touches

Do the smells and touches that you enjoy change over time?

Do you notice that a scent you once settled into, now pushes you away?

Is it possible that your entire system can make it uncomfortable to be intimate with someone who smells, or feels ....wrong?

What triggers change us from enjoying a scent, taste or touch to moving away from that very thing a short time later?

is it hormonal? psychological? the universe's idea of a bad joke?

Smell seems particularly 'heavy' in unexpected ways. I dated a guy who used to wear Obsession for Men. He died a couple years after we stopped dating, and for the life of me I can't stand to be near the scent now -- it just seems Wrong, because it's not him. Nothing changed physically, but the context of the scent was what mattered. Change the context, change the experience.

Absolutely I understand. (Although in this one, it's the opposite.)

A former lover of mine had a particular... musk... shall we say. Before we got involved, it drove me nuts - I couldn't get too close to him, because he *stank*.

When we started getting closer, and especially after we got involved, that same musk smelled wonderful, and I could spend *hours* buried in his neck.

Pheromones are strange things.
