The doctor told me I wouldn't get so many nosebleeds if I'd just keep my finger out of it.
On a more serious note - when I was on Accutane (ugh, horrible drug) as a teenager, I was putting fingerfuls of vaseline up my nostrils every morning and evening. It reduced the frequency of the dried-out-nasal-membranes nosebleeds. Yeah, it's a pretty gross thing to do. The alternative, however, was much worse.
