Single Parenting
Oct. 6th, 2008 09:40 amIs always a challenge. I work with lots of single parents but sometimes even I forget how frustating it can be.
K still has a fever, so I'm home today. Fortunately I had few things scheduled for today, but had lots to do.
I never did manage to get groceries yesteray, so that still needs to happen. Meanwhile, trying to get a child to consume enough sustinence to help her fight off this fever is difficult enough. This mornings attempt is "plain oatmeal." The fever shows through the dark red of her eyelids and the cracked lips. She's so warm, she hugs me and feels like a little furnace. According to the thermometer it's only running about 102...but feels higher. If it doesn't break today, we're off to the Dr.'s.
As for me, I got the back yard mowed yesterday, today hopefully sweep and mop the main level. I tried to look at the washing machine to figure out where the water is coming from, am not sure how long THAT has been leaking.
Things I do know..
1. Still needing to locate a pick-up and some bodies to move a couch from D&K's to my place.
2. Still needing a hand to relocate a TV display unit to the basement.
3. Looking for a deal on a hood for a 2001 Neon
4. Looking for a cheap/free VCR
5. Looking for a cheap/free microwave (the one I have is so old it scares me!)
In other news, had a date on Saturday to see a movie with a fellow and his little girl. The company was fabulous, the movie not so much. I do NOT recommend IGOR for any reason. Poor representation of relationships, gender roles and all things interactive.
Sleep - is going. Some nights are better than others. If I crash by 9pm, I'm good to go...much later and it's harder to move in the morning.
For those that don't know it, I'm always receptive to company. Having people around is motivating and I like to putter, so I get things done while we have tea.
Lots of stuff that brews in my head...I'm watching my finances, as Christmas is coming and that's always a challenge. I need to write my list and scratch off/wrap the ones I've already gotten, before I forget that I've gotten them.
