1. RE-organize K's room to accomodate the desk from

2. Laundry
3. General tidy
4. Groceries & start dinner
5. Take computer components to chez
gracyelala
Ok so I guess I'm not doing so bad...
Meanwhile, I've also read book 4 of "The Walking Dead", added a new friend to my chat list, and looked long and hard at my doll house. A story about the doll house..
When I was (13 maybe) young, my mother ordered a dollhouse from Sears catalogue for me for Christmas, but it was made of cardboard. She and my step-father took the pattern and cut out the house from wood. They decorated the house, my grandmother made the fixtures for the bathroom from ceramics, my grandfather made bits and pieces of the furniture. Over the years, I have recieved more furniture and miniature pieces for the dollhouse and it's been stuck in storage.
It's now in my daughters room. She enjoys pulling the pieces out and playing with the dollhouse. I reviewed some of those pieces today.. .The flooring needs to be replaced, the wall paper has fallen off and the furniture needs to be repaired. It's going to be a project. I have small clamps and good wood glue. Someday, I'd like to add electricity so the lights can be turned on. It's not a well -made dollhouse but it was made with love and caring that no other gift I have recieved over the years was.
My grandparents are still alive, and there are pictures in albums of that christmas morning. My step-father has been dead now for several years but when I look at the house, I don't see the flaws in the structure or the work needed. I see the love in the actions that motivated my family to band together and make something for me. My family, that spends so much of their time splintered, and at odds, worked together on that piece.
It's funny, I know for
zagatto, what he sees is the amateurish construction, his dad is a woodworker after all, but me, all I see is peace.
