it's worth doing the numbers.  The condo fee, might cut me out.

No bids/interest on this yet.  I will price out carpets on the weekend.

Apparantly there's been a few sales in that building recently....most likely due to the increase in condo fees, talked to a few residents...one is only paying just over 400...  They are starting to save up cash and are slowly increasing fees, because the know that the central forced air units will need to be replaced over hte next 5 years.

I suspect this condo fee is the top of the end where they are headed with other people's fees.

Have you done the numbers on home ownership plus a landscaper and handyman budget versus the condo? That is a pretty place, but the numbers are really painful when calculating even a good mortgage with those fees!

My other half mentions that he might be willing to be put on retainer for basic handyman stuff if that is your main holdback on a house again (you'd have to negotiate, but he did offer)

Agreed. I'm pretty sure that's more than what my brother-in-law is paying for a downtown 2-bed + den condo in Toronto for a lot of the same features.
