If you haven't...take a read of Naomi Wolf's "Promiscuities"... OMG it was like having a light shine in the darkest aspects of my childhood/teenager hood socialization that I never understood...
It's fantastic... Why does society DISS us as sexual woman so much?
sigh... if we women only DID say what we mean, and if we all tried to be honest with each other, and not "read into" what's being said, or even better "think we could change their minds..."
how much simpler would this world be?
Someone, somewhere gave me shit for saying "men and women speak different languages." I really, truly, believe that we do. When I say, "wanna go out for a coffee?" I mean: "Do you want to go to a coffee shop, get a hot beverage, perhaps something sweet to eat, and have a pleasant conversation?" I do NOT mean "Buy me a coffee and you can get into my pants" EVEN IF I blatantly flirt with you while drinking the hot beverage. If I'm going to let you into my pants, I can guarantee that I'll tell you flat out. Or I'll jump you. I'm just that kind of girl.
I have frequently said "I love you" to people... then had to explain, in detail, what, exactly I meant by that. Why is the "L" word so extremely terrifying to people? WHY do people automatically assume it means that I WANT something from them?
Oh thank goodness

I'm so in the dark now...
I guess I'll have to stick to taking women to mean what they say.

It suits me.
